Helping our children get the most appropriate education to meet their individual needs

We want to:

  • Ensure that restraints, isolation, disciplinary removals & other practices that are affecting students w/disabilities are accurately documented, reported & communicated to families.

  • Address situations where students have IEPs on paper but are not consistently receiving the individualized instruction, services, supports or protections necessary to access their education.

  • Advocate for a genuine continuum of placement options, including specialized settings for students w/significant or complex support needs when their needs cannot be appropriately met in existing environments.

  • Examine barriers families encounter with Tennessee’s Individualized Education Account (IEA) program, particularly when approved schools cannot or will not serve children with substantial disabilities.

About Us

We are a parent-led initiative formed by families who have encountered significant barriers to obtaining appropriate, safe and meaningful educational opportunities for their children.

Our mission is to bring families, educators, advocates and policymakers together to address systemic gaps in special education across Tennessee.

The primary areas of focus include: Accountability and transparency, Meaningful access to FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education), Appropriate educational placements, and Accessibility of school-choice programs.

Our goal is not to oppose public education or inclusion. It’s to ensure that educational decisions are driven by each child’s individual needs rather than administrative convenience, limited placement options or compliance on paper.
